Happy New year to all :)

The 2009 has end. When I look back to the year 2009, lots of events and moments scroll around my mind. It was a very unique year in my life till now. Till 2009, I was very rigid with my thinking and activities around. I was categorized to be a geek and I lived around that circle. But there happened lots of changes and the environment was totally different in the year 2009. I watched more around the world rather than sitting in front of an electronic box most of the time. i started to become more social. I received more new friends, lots of fun, lots of serious stuff and lot more.
Only one word suits better for that year with respect to my life, its very “Dynamic”. The year brought to me a lot of changes, lots of life learnings, lots of visions. It was really awesome to keep in memory.

2010 started off with nice traits. We had a lot of fun with friends around. I am doing absolutely nothing these days. But I love the very calm and peaceful environment around.

But more techie savvy stuffs are in my workshop TODO, it includes Android, Linux kernel and more fun.

Once again, wishing you all a very Happy new year 2010.

Hey all.

pardus 2009I have been getting extremely lazy to blog enough these days. I have came across lots of new updates with pardusman project. The first improvement is with the UI graphic design. After building the UI layout I was staying tuned for comments and suggestions for improvement. Hiran came to me and told that he is interested to help me regarding UI. HIran is a UI guy on inkscape, Gimp, fonts etc.

We had a 1 hour IRC meeting that evening and discussed the UI plan. I got the UI for the first page in a couple of hours and I loved it. I found it awesome. I also grabed rest of the pages from Hiran of Human Factor Interface team. Have a look at the new designs.

From Technopreneur 2009

Its been around three months the team at Model Engineering College has been working hard to this ultimate day of ‘Technopreneur 2009′. Technopreneur is a entrepreneurship and motivational event which presents you different leaders who have changed the path of life. The event is organised by the Young Indians chapter of Model Engineering College.

From Technopreneur 2009

Even though I had been busy organising FOSSMeet @ MEC, I worked for helping Technopreneur team to build the official website and give some technical consulting. Have a look at my design http://www.technopreneurmec.org. Also I am proud to bring Sarath Babu, Pepsi-MTV Youth Icon 2009 out of my personal contacts as one of our key speakers for the event. Micro$oft, being the title sponsor of the event, I had to put “Build with 100% free software footer” in the website to show people what Free and Open Source Software is capable of. Yep, inorder to nullify the M$ effect :D.

From Technopreneur 2009

The 2009th edition of Technopreneur was held at Hotel Gokulam Park Inn, Cochin. We had very great speakers from various domains. The event can be broadly classified into four sessions. The first session was about “The role of media in shaping the society”. The Anant Parathasarathy, IT Correspondant from THE HINDU newspaper and Mr Manoj from The Indian Express dealt the session. It focussed on the evolution that has changed to the journalism and new strategies of Journalism.

The second session was about Entrepreneurship. The key speakers were Sarath Babu, Pepsi-MTV Youth Icon 2009 and the CEO Fooking Catering and Mr. Kallol Borah of Aumega Networks, Head Start Foundation. Kallol Borah’s speech was about getting into technology entrepreneurship and how to become successful and about strategies.

From Technopreneur 2009

After Kallol’s Speech, Sarath Babu came into the focus. He did an inspirational talk on his story of him, from grassroots level to become a successful entrepreneur and leader. Everybody out there got inspired with his speech. He stands for a real entrepreneur who started from absolutely nothing to very big goals.

Next comes panel discussion on India 2020. There were many famous speakers including Mr. Rear Admiral Rakesh Chopra. It was interesting. The last talk was by Dr. Radhakrishnan, Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. He talked about the Chandrayan and the status of India in Space research. The entire event was really awesome.

From Technopreneur 2009

Most of the time I was spending with Mr Sarath Babu. I had a great time speaking to him. He was talking me about his visions about India. He told that his ultimate wish is to feed every people in India, poverty less India. It is really inspiring story he has. We cannot even imagine his growth. He was born in slums. Now he owns a 9 Core enterprise called Foodking catering which employs a 200 people. Have a look at this Rediff story http://ia.rediff.com/money/2006/aug/31spec.htm. You would say wow. Recently he was selected as the Pepsi-MTV youth Icon for 2009. Also he is going for Loksabha elections in South Chennai Constituency this time. We must give opportunities for young people like Sarath Babu to be in Loksabha. What does the worst politicians can do at the Loksabha ? They are good for collecting bribe, sleeping at Loksabha. What more ? Since he is from real grass roots of the society, he knows well about the problems of society. I request the voters to think ! Do not make the mistake again.

From Technopreneur 2009

Speaking to Sarath Babu was a really awesome experience. He is a man down to the earth. I would have to put these buzzwords : Young, Energetic, Intelligent, Strategic, Cool, Social. He told that he had being doing various speeches, of course more than 300 all over the country interrupting his business. He believes that by his speech, at least a few people get really inspired and come forward with entrepreneurship. That’s really cool. I have turned out to be his fan :)

The back end of Technopreneur 2009 is more about entrepreneurship. Starting from a bank account of Rs -25000, the Young Indians at Model Engineering College raised around 14 lakhs from scratch through sponsorship and participant fee in short period of time overcoming the global economic recession effect. and moreover its the time when everyone face much more difficulty in in raising sponsorship. Technopreneur team took up the challenge and made it happen.

See you at Technopreneur 2010 :). It is getting bigger and bigger every year.

It has been a long time I travelled along with a number of friends. Yesterday I had been to Kasargod for attending Widad’s Marriage party. Widad was my senior at MEC and passed out last april. She is a nice friend of mine and an amazing techie during the college. Of course she is an FOSS savvy girl. Her husband Jemshad is a Yahoo and well known geek. We friends were making fun out of him thinking what would be his chat status during marriage. We guessed it would be ‘brb’ :D. But widad commented mostly it is ‘afk’. It was fun.

Six friends of mine from MEC boarded in Mavel express on Saturday night 11.30 pm. Srijith, Cyriac, Cijo, Rathin, Sadhashiv and Neelakandan were the guyz. Neelakandan and Sadhashiv had only general compartment tickets and they didn’t get the reservation. But altogether they had 5 reservation tickets. So they requested TTR to make some adjustment, but he didn’t allow them. Finally Neelakandan was out of reservation list and he became inside general compartment. I boarded into the train from Mahe. A few hours later Neelakandan came to the reservation compartment. Everyone expected him to burst out against Sadahashiv for leaving him alone at general compartment. But unluckly it didn’t happen. He spoke like a Brand Ambassador of general compartment that it was a fine inside general compartment. When the train approached Kangangad, we realised that Cheif Minister of Kerala, V.S Achuthananthan was there in our train. We went to Govt guest house straight way from kasargod station. But the policemen at the guest house questioned us like a culprit since Chief Minister was going to have the accomodation there. Widad arranged us some other hotel and went there. Rathin had brought his laptop. He was worried about his mini project about Wireless networks. Srijith and I decided to hack on the Network Manager, though we failed to find some intersting bytes. BTW, Cijo was hacking with bash for a while.

We guys spent few hours at the marriage party. Met a good number of xmecians. We were having great fun altogether. It was a geek company and I enjoyed the with everyone. Srijith, Cyriac, Rathin, Cijo and I are from computer science and we belong to MACS(MEC’s Association of Computer Students), being the organisers of FOSSMEET @ MEC we were in search of ‘freedom images’. After the marriage party, we had an hour journey to Bakel forte, which is a famous tourist destination. I didn’t my camera being lazy and since we have our Photographer (Cyraic) with us.

Bakel

We took a couple of photographs which portraits the natural beauty of the coast. When we were in the beach, I suggested to photograph FOSSMEET written on the sand. Cyraic’s face lit up saying our hunt for the ‘freedom’ photograph is over. We wrote and photograped FOSS @ MEC on the sand. it looked very great and its going to be put on FOSSMEET website header.

Scribing FOSSMEET

We set back to railway station from Bakel fort around 5 pm. We reached the station few seconds before the train leave. Of course, that was a narrow escape. Neel, Sadhashiv and I took in the general compartment and Wowed ! There was lots of free seats. We talked a lot about MEC and Free and Open Source Software during the journey. Sadhashiv and Neel was maintaining the funny elements all over the journey.
